ABOUT THE BAND

Jason Hayes

Guitars, Singer & Songwriter

Jason Hayes is an American singer, guitarist and songwriter. Hayes is known primarily for his work in the rock, alternative genres.  Playing guitar since the age of 8, he was heavily influenced by the diverse rock, alternative and blues music surrounding him down in Austin, Texas.  Past bands he's been a member of include:  The Lazy Jays, Lykaden and Dirty Irby & The Plow Kings.  Additionally, the guitarist sharpened his studio skills with producing a massive collection of songs for Thursday's Productions.  Later he got invited to expand on his influences by paying country dues playing at the Fort Worth Stockyards.  In 2018, always a student of rock 'n' roll, Hayes took a visit back to his roots in Austin.  Following another cathartic trip to SXSW (South by Southwest), Hayes had the inspiration he needed to start a new music project.  In 2021, the band 29 to Austin formed and is currently working on their debut album, tentatively titled 'What You Wanted' to be released in 2022!

Q+A with Evan…

Q: What were some of your musical inspirations?

A: In the beginning, at around 6 or 7 years old, I listened to Green Day, MCR, Muse and a couple “oldies” from the 1940’s and 1950’s era. As I took up drumming, I began to follow the likes of John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, Gene Krupa, Carmine Appice, and Buddy Rich to name a few.

Q: Who was your biggest childhood inspiration for starting music?

A: I’d have to say Led Zeppelin as a group when I was about 10 years old. Their presentability, sound, and style sort of hypnotized me and I knew I wanted that same level of joy and musicianship as Zeppelin.

Q: What do you do for fun?

A: Play lots of drums, drive fast cars, and take my fiancé out on the town!

Q: How would you want to shape your future music career?

A: I really like the idea of reviving the excitement that people had for concerts back in the day, from the 60’s and so on. I’d really enjoy bringing a new sound for people everywhere as well as spreading a positive message through my drumming.
